===================================================================== = User's Guide = ===================================================================== Reading threads ___________________________________________________________________ | | | Threads are listed on the main menu in order of when they were | | last replied to, with threads most recently replied to at the | | top. A number of the latest posts to a thread may be displayed | | underneath the link to the thread. The link to the thread will | | always appear as a directory with the prefix [thread]. | | | | Stickies (permanent threads) appear above the list of normal | | threads, marked with the prefix [sticky]. | | | | When the maximum number of threads is reached, old threads (those | | which have not been replied to the longest) are moved to the | | Archive list. The selectors/URLs to these threads do not change, | | however, so links to a thread and any files posted in a thread | | will continue to work as long as the thread remains archived. | |___________________________________________________________________| Making a new thread ___________________________________________________________________ | | | To create a new thread, select the "New thread" link. The text | | you enter as your query is the title of your thread. These | | should be relatively short (~40 characters or less). | | | | Once your thread is created, you can write an opening post | | by replying to the empty thread (see below). | |___________________________________________________________________| Replying to a thread ___________________________________________________________________ | | | When inside a thread, you can reply using the "Reply ..." links | | at the bottom. | | | | - "Reply" | | Enter a simple text reply as your query. | | | | - "Reply with link" | | Enter a URL as your query. This must include the protocol | | (gopher://, http://, etc.). gopher:// URLs are converted in | | to a Gopher resource which is embedded in to the thread. | | http:// URLs are converted to a Gopher URL: resource | | (type h with a URL: prefixed selector) and embedded in to | | the thread. | | | | - "Upload image/file from URL" | | Enter a URL as your query. This is downloaded to the server | | and the file is posted inline as a Gopher resource in the | | thread. The URL may use one of many different protocols | | (Gopher, HTTP, FTP, ...) though this is more useful for | | non-Gopher URLs since "Reply with link" does much the | | same thing, without needing to copy the file. You must | | specify the protocol. | | | | [ NOTE ] | | You can change the display string of the above links by | | adding text before the URL in your query, separated by a | | space, e.g.: | | | | The Gopher protocol gopher://khzae.net/0/rfc1436.txt | | | | otherwise the display string will be the same as the URL. | | | | - "Reply with spoiler" | | Enter a simple text reply as your query. Rather than showing | | as inline text in the thread, your reply is displayed as a | | file titled "*SPOILER*" which other users must open to view | | the contents of your reply. | | | | Quoting posts | | To quote a post, add >># in front of your message, where # is | | the post number of the post you wish to quote (do not include | | the character #). The contents of that post will appear above | | your reply. This will work with any of the above reply links. | | | | Example queries: | | | | simple/spoiler: >>123 Hello | | link/file: >>123 Hello http://khzae.net | | | | Example output: | | | | #123 said: | | >hi? | | Hello | | | | Tripcodes | | To identify a post using a tripcode, add ##password in front of | | your message, where "password" is a password of your choosing. | | Any posts with the same password will display the same code. | | This can be used for any of the above reply links, and can be | | combined with the quote syntax, but must always be specified | | first. | | | | Example queries: | | | | ##secret Hello world | | ##secret >>123 Hello world | | ##secret >>123 Hello world http://khzae.net | | | | Example output: | | | | __[2019-01-16(Wed)09:31:32 #124 !ade235bcf4]_______________ | | #123 said: | | >hi? | | Hello world | |___________________________________________________________________|
