>>943 (newlines don't work too well) Why is it a glownigger
project? Could you explain please?

As someone who has written a browser for both gopher and gemini,
i can say, that like both of them, with gemini having a nice markup
language, and gophermaps being easier to make interactive because
of inline inputs … | |

When it comes to the underlying connection: gopher is faster and
lighter and gemini is secure, with the extra feataure of being able
to log into a service with a client certificate

Talking about the request istself gemini is actually easier, as
you can just write the uri to the connection and done (until you
want to connect using the servers ip address ...) …

, but the statusline is a killer feataure for me, You get the
mimetype for free and don't have to guess and you get error messages
… nothing is more annoying than not even knowing, that something
went wrong (becaues gopher errors are human readable only)

My conclusion for the people who think its gopher vs gemini: gopher
is good, but gemini while having some drawbacks is slighly better.

My conclusion for people who just want to addd gemini to theu#ir
toolbox: Do it, it is a good minimalistic and modern (and its not
easy to fit these two propertys together) protocol, with a simple
but still powerful markdown language as its companion

Also, its not gemini vs gopher, that would be like a spoon vs fork

Exactly, fukken use both, so people who use a Quadra 700 as
their daily machine can still shitpost and everybody else gets
TLS. They're similar enough that hosting the same site using both
protocols requires minimal effort.
