Is a "secure" Gopher protocol possible?

I mean something along the lines of https where traffic is encrypted.

Yes, umbrellix.net has examples of what they call s/gopher (gopher +
SSL). VF-1 gopher client supports a TLS mode if the server supports
it. If you connect to this server on port 105 instead of 70, I am
experimenting with SSL too atm

I put some info on the root menu

See umbrellix.net for more info on gopher over SSL or the darknet

And of course this is cheating, but you can connect here over https

"Secure" is a good way to describe TLS using CAs. If you want secure
and not "secure," you can do gopher as a Tor hidden service.
